Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Direktor des Kamal-Adwan-Krankenhauses, wurde am 27. Dezember 2024 ohne Gerichtsverfahren verhaftet, nachdem sein Krankenhaus zerstört worden war. Als das letzte funktionierende Krankenhaus im Norden Gazas leistete Kamal Adwan unter Bombardierung dringend benötigte medizinische Versorgung. Heute ist Dr. Abu Safiya weiterhin in Haft, mit Berichten über Folter. Wir fordern seine sofortige Freilassung und die Freiheit aller inhaftierten Gesundheitsarbeiter.
Am 27. Dezember 2024 wurde Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya von der israelischen Armee festgenommen und ohne Gerichtsverfahren inhaftiert. Bis zu seiner Verhaftung leitete Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya das Kamal-Adwan-Krankenhaus, das letzte funktionierende Krankenhaus im Norden des Gazastreifens.
Am 27. Dezember wurde dieses Krankenhaus zerstört und in Brand gesetzt. Das Personal und die Patienten, die die Bombardierung und den Angriff der israelischen Soldaten überlebt hatten, wurden festgenommen und anschließend inhaftiert.
Ein Akt der Barbarei, in Fortsetzung all derer, die gegen die Bevölkerung von Gaza begangen wurden, die monatelang systematischen Bombenangriffen ausgesetzt und von der übrigen Welt abgeschnitten war, über die eine mörderischen Blockade verhängt wurde, wodurch sie nicht mit Lebensmitteln, Trinkwasser und Medikamenten versorgt werden konnte. Und die dadurch zum Tode verurteilt wurde.
In absoluter Achtung seines Einsatzes für Kranke und Verletzte organisierte Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya auch unter den Bomben weiterhin die medizinische Versorgung, die er als Letzter in seinem Krankenhaus leistete. Die Ankündigung löste sofort eine internationale Welle der Empörung aus, und eine breite Solidaritäts- und Unterstützungsbewegung forderte seine sofortige Freilassung. Mehr als zwei Monate später lehnen die israelischen Behörden seine Freilassung immer noch ab. Die Informationen, die uns erreichen und von zahlreichen Zeugen untermauert werden, sind alarmierend und berichten von Folterungen.
Aktuell werden 160 Ärzte und Pflegekräfte aus Gaza in israelischen Gefängnissen festgehalten.
Wir sind Zeugen davon und des erklärten und behaupteten Willens mehrerer Mitglieder der israelischen Regierung, die vollständige Zerstörung des Gesundheitssystems in Gaza zu vollenden, um das Leben dort unmöglich zu machen.
Wir sind mit dem Schweigen der Regierungen, ihrer Unterstützer oder ihrer Komplizenschaft konfrontiert. So sieht die entmenschlichende Realität des Völkermords aus.
Wir, Aktivisten mit unterschiedlichem Hintergrund, Abgeordnete, Gewerkschafter, Ärzte usw., bekräftigen die absolute Notwendigkeit eines vollständigen und endgültigen Waffenstillstands, eines Stopps der Waffenlieferungen an die Regierung Netanjahu, der Aufrechterhaltung der medizinischen Einrichtungen und der Lieferung von Material und Medikamenten zur Grundversorgung. Zu einem Zeitpunkt, an dem mehrere israelische Ärzteverbände, darunter Physicians for Human Rights, vor der Situation warnen, die dem medizinischen Personal in Gaza angetan wird, sagen wir mit ihnen: Gaza braucht seine Ärzte.
Wir fordern die sofortige Freilassung von Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya und das gesamte inhaftierte Gesundheitspersonal, beschließen, uns mit diesem Ziel so breit wie möglich zu organisieren und alle dafür notwendigen Initiativen zu ergreifen, insbesondere gegenüber den israelischen Behörden und ihren Vertretern in unseren jeweiligen Ländern.
